DIRECTOR

Northeast Addiction Technology Transfer Center

An exceptional opportunity has arisen for a mid to senior level expert in addictions treatment, education, research, policy and recovery. This position makes a difference in the substance use field nationally and regionally.

The Northeast Addiction Technology Transfer Center, based in Pittsburgh, Pa., and serving NY and Pa. seeks a Director to oversee its efforts to enhance addictions treatment and recovery by aligning best science, practice and policy. The NeATTC seeks to accomplish this by knowledge dissemination and skill based education, by using state of the art technology transfer and informational support, by assessing the needs of the field and by addressing those needs through knowledge, the facilitation of collaboration and leadership.

The NeATTC is part of a National network of ATTCs who work collaboratively to address the multidisciplinary needs of those treating addiction in America by providing the latest science and evidenced based information to policy makers, providers, faith based organizations and the community. The NeATTC focuses primarily on those agencies in NY and Pa.

The Director oversees all implementation within the ATTC and builds its goals and objectives. S/he must have experience in the addictions field, a Masters or Doctoral degree in a related area, i.e. clinical, educational, research, policy - and the ability to communicate exceptionally well in writing and verbally. The position requires working from Pittsburgh and offers an excellent salary and full benefits. Some travel is required.

The NeATTC is a component of the Institute for Research, Education and Training in the Addictions (IRETA) also housed in Pittsburgh. This 501© 3 serves as the principle in numerous grants and projects in the addictions and has as its collaborative partners 16 major academic institutions and 35 leading agencies of stakeholders in the addictions field. Substance Abuse Operations Specialist

DUTIES: This is a highly specialized professional position involving the review, analysis, evaluation, monitoring and coordination of Behavioral Health Services in a managed care environment for the Medicaid population. The duties of this position focus on Substance Abuse Services. This position also must be prepared to assist with and coordinate Mental Health Services. On a daily basis, this position assists in the assessment of the HealthChoices- Nine County Program and works with the Operations Team on clinical, programmatic and systemic problems/needs related to its coordination and consolidation of Behavioral Health Services and special needs populations with an emphasis on Substance Abuse Services


LOCATION AND HOURS: The main office of Southwest Behavioral Health Management (SBHM) is located just outside of New Castle, PA. SBHM serves the Counties of Armstrong, Indiana, Butler, Lawrence, Washington, Westmoreland, Mercer, Venango and Crawford. Much of SBHM’s work involves monitoring a program in Trafford, PA (near Monroeville, PA). This position is housed in SBHM’s main office, but travel may be expected three or more days per week to Trafford and locations throughout the nine county area. With the exception of limited conferences, all travel is day travel. The hours of work are 8:30 A.M. to 4:30 P.M. with a half hour lunch. Other hours may be required as determined by agency and client need.


ABOUT NEW CASTLE: New Castle is located just under an hour north of Pittsburgh, PA. New Castle is located in Lawrence County, which is home to McConnell’s Mills, New Wilmington and other areas of dramatic natural beauty. Shenango Township, where SBHM, Inc, is located offers an unusually low cost of living and significantly lower taxes than nearby Allegheny County. New Castle offers easy access to major highways traveling from Pittsburgh to Sharon, PA, Youngstown Ohio, Butler, PA and other areas.


REQUIREMENTS: Minimum experience and training required: Bachelors Degree (with a major in chemical dependency, sociology, social welfare, psychology, nursing or related field) and four years experience in substance abuse services. Strong skills in organization and documentation are required. Applicants must be able to work independently with minimal supervision and have strong interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to work in a variety of settings. High consideration given to candidates who possess one or more of the following: strong understanding and/or experience of recovery; Certified Addiction Counselor (CAC); experience working with managed care; and masters or other advanced degree.
