SAMHSA is Accepting Applications for Approximately $7.5 Million in Grants to Expand Substance Abuse Treatment Capacity for Adult Drug CourtsSubstance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) is accepting applications for fiscal year (FY) 2010 Grants to Expand Substance Abuse Treatment Capacity in Adult Drug Courts. The purpose of this program is to expand and/or enhance substance abuse treatment services in "problem solving" courts which use the treatment drug court model for defendants/offenders in order to provide alcohol and drug treatment, recovery support services, screening, assessment, case management, and program coordination. It is expected that approximately $2.5 million per year will be available to fund up to 8 grants. Awardees are eligible for up to $325,000 per year for up to three years. The total program is expected to provide a total of $7.5 million over its three year course. The actual amounts may vary, depending on the availability of these funds and the performance of the grantees. The grants will be administered by SAMHSA's Center for Substance Abuse Treatment. WHO CAN APPLY: Eligible applicants are existing misdemeanor or felony adult treatment drug courts that have demonstrated relationships and agreements with existing domestic public and private nonprofit entities and community-based treatment providers, and units of Tribal, State and local government that submit applications on behalf of an individual misdemeanor or felony adult treatment drug court.
