The graying workforce
Michael T. Flaherty, Ph.D., executive director of the Pittsburgh-based research and training institute IRETA, who recently termed the loss of the foundation's support "catastrophic" for the field (see ADAW, Nov. 13, 2006), believes the need for leadership in this area has gone well beyond the urgency stage.
"The real solution is in the medical community itself," Flaherty told ADAW. "I'm guardedly optimistic, but I don't see leadership yet on issues such as workforce development.".....
