TRAININGS

Training is a key tool in our efforts to unify science, service and policy. Utilizing several methods, IRETA provides two different types of training programs. The first is focused specifically on substance abuse training for addictions professionals who are in direct prevention, intervention or treatment roles in the provider community. The second is interdisciplinary training targeted at a broad range of professionals in the addictions field or in program and policy development.

All training programs are designed to provide the most comprehensive and current information available, with the underlying premise that addiction is a chronic illness and recovery is the final, achievable goal. In our effort to support the addictions workforce, IRETA also works with various state, academic and professional organizations to obtain continuing education accreditation for all practicing professionals, when possible.

Workshop

Designed to be an interactive learning experience, IRETA hosts several workshops per year focusing on specific addictions-related topics. This format allows for optimal discussion between participants and presenters. Workshops will include any or all of the following components: lecture; case study; question and answer sessions; role play; and small group discussion/practice.

PENNSYLVANIA DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH BUREAU OF DRUG AND ALCOHOL PROGRAMS TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES

The Pennsylvania Department of Health Bureau of Drug and Alcohol Programs (BDAP) offers various training opportunities for professionals throughout the Commonwealth at no cost to participants. The on-site training system offers facilities or groups of facilities the opportunity to have training by request at a designated facility. The mini-regional trainings offer a series of one-day trainings in each of the six public health districts every other month. Each regional training day offers 4 separate training modules. Other special training initiatives are sponsored as needed in support of new policies or other identified issues. All trainings are designed to support administrative, prevention and treatment staff and to provide opportunity for ongoing professional development and certification.
